Exclusive 'Zombie Panic' Map and Server!
by Josh King

zombie panic halflife half life 2 source mod modificationHey there zombie fans! Josh King here, production assistant, actor, and zealot of the Zombie Apocalypse saga. I love zombies. You love zombies. I love video games. You love video games.

I run a server for the ever popular 2008 mod of the year "Zombie Panic! Source." I've also formed a clan called "Clan Rat" in homage to this particular game and server. And I would like to invite all you zombie fans to come join me and my fellow survivalists in our never ending quest to escape the zombie hordes! This game (completely free*) portrays an abundance of quality classic zombie scenarios and puts you right in the middle of the action! This multiplayer co-op, first person shooter is built on the Half Life 2 Source engine, and lets you choose if you want to be a zombie or a survivor. Like I said, totally free because its an independent mod, and totally worth checking out for that reason alone. Plus...

Just to add to the barage of awesomeness, I am here to announce plans for an official Zombie Panic custom map, based on the plot of everybody's favorite low budget indie flick, Zombie Apocalypse! The great part about indie gaming is indie mapping. Valve software provides all the tools needed to create your own original content. So I and a couple fellow clan members are teaming up to bring you the best of both worlds. We're still in pre-production/design stages, and I'll have blueprints up for preview soon. The end product may be as much as three months away. But in the meantime, stop on by my server!

Download Zombie Panic HERE!
Download Steam at HERE! (necessary game networking software, and totally free)

And best of all, you can come check out my clan at www.ratzps.com. If you're awesome enough, we might even let you join the clan! And if you're a ZA veteran, trust me, you're awesome enough.
When you play the game you can navigate to our server with this info:

IP address: 8.12.21.117:27015
Title: Clan Rat ~A P O C A L Y P S E~ objectives only!

- Josh King - clan handle "Ratboy"

The Comic Book Cometh!
by Ryan Thompson

zombie comic book graphic novel issue 0 apocalypseWhether or not you're a superfan fan of ZA, or are just seeing the movie for the first time, you're going to want to check out the prequel comic book! Zombie Apocalypse Issue #0, the 12-page serial has just arrived and is now for sale in the online store for just $3 (plus shipping)!

This full color book drawn by artist Brian Sheehy and written by Matt O'Day (horror writer and screenwirter for Zombie Apocalypse II) and myself, reveals the origin of the outbreak, who is responsible, and exactly how high the stakes are.

Creating the comic book was an incredibly limitless experience made possible by Brian Sheehy's talent of creating images I can only dream of shooting on my bootleg budgets. Drawing the comic book's rough thumbnail panels is just like storyboarding, except I don't have to worry about how I'm going to shoot it - just on if Brian can draw it! And coloring the book felt a lot like placing lights in a scene - except I didn't have to worry about how I was going to cram all of that fancy gear into my minivan! I've learned a lot about visual storytelling through the creation of this book and am working with Sheehy and O'Day to expand the Zombie Apocalypse universe into a full-blown comic series.

Look for Zombie Apocalypse Issue #1, the book that starts right after the Zombie Apocalypse movie, this July! See if our heroes can survive the corrupted post-apocalyptic Hell of a nation turned zombie in this horrifying 12-issue tale of desperation and decomposing corpses.

ZA Blasts Off at Motor City Comic Con!
by Ryan Thompson

So...Motor City Comic Con was AWESOME!

Zombie Convention Movie BoobsThanks to everybody who came down to show their fanaticism for all things Zombie Apocalypse! Incredibly, we completely sold out of the brand-new prequel comic book on the second day and sold just heaps of DVDs. It was great meeting many of you personally. Looking forward to meeting the rest of you at a convention sometime in the near future!

That's (from left) composer and sound designer David Fienup, director/producer/DP/editor/yadda yadda Ryan Thompson, the adorable booth babe Erin McGylnn, and writer Matt O'Day rocking the ZA booth.

The whole experience has been extremely encouraging to the core ZA team and I'm tripling my efforts to expand the franchise...and get that second movie going!

In case you didn't get a chance to make it down yourself, or were disappointed that the comics were already sold out, fear not! I'm ordering another run and will be able to sell them on the internet shortly. The Zombie Apocalypse Issue 0 book will also be available on www.ComiXpress.com before too long.

Also, keep checking the website here. I'm planning on whole slew of updates, including a "reviews" section, an option to sign up for a mailing list, to join the Facebook group (called simply "Zombie Apocalypse"), to follow us on Twitter, and gobs of other cool stuff.

Until next time, zombie fans!
